Having the opportunity to spread the Slow Dentistry that Dr. Primitivo Roig shares with so many good colleagues of his profession is always good news. The valencian doctor had the opportunity this week to visit the set of 7 TeleValencia, where he shared his vision of the dental sector and the great benefits that have for society the power of smile. In this sense, Slow Dentistry plays a fundamental role in preventing the dentist’s visit from becoming even more pleasant. Don’t miss the live interview with Dr. Primitivo Roig, director and dentist at the Primitivo Roig Dental Clinic and founder of Clínicas W, the first network of dental clinics with names and surnames.
One of the first reflections in the programme is focused on the accelerated pace towards which society has been driven. “Society is usually pretty stressed out. It is true that the dentist has a historical tendency inherited from generation to generation that the dentist frightens you, but today it is not justified. Dentistry can be very kind and if we encourage people to come to the clinic when they are still well and not when they need an emergency, dentistry can even be pleasant. In this sense, the Slow method represents an important change in the way dentistry is understood and practiced. It consists of making dentistry calmer, with more responsible consumption and based on prevention and controlled care is more positive not only for the professional but also for the patient,”says Dr. Roig.
Primitivo Roig Dental Clinic is a dental clinic in Valencia that is part of Clinicas W, a network of clinics spread throughout Spain that share the vision of Slow Dentistry. Primitivo Roig Dental Clinic is part of the network of W Clinics throughout Spain. Slow dentistry is based on a basic principle: to prioritize quality over quantity. We think that not seeing more patients than you should, in order to be able to attend to them and do things well and not in any way but the first; not to be wrong, to involve the patient in treatment, humanize medicine and dentistry again as it was in its origins…; it seems that there is less and less time to talk and at least in our field communication with the patient is fundamental, asserts the dentist.
Finally, Dr. Roig clarifies one of the issues that may generate more controversy for practitioners. Does less patients mean making less money? The Valencian dentist clarifies this matter in the interview. “Earning money is not the goal of Slow Dentistry, it’s the consequence. Unfortunately, another type of dentistry has become fashionable, where commercialism, excellence and financial planning set the standard. I don’t think that’s good for anyone, not even clinics that run those kinds of dentistry. The positive thing for society and for any professional is to provide quality care and quality in oral treatments to make’ earning money’ the consequence,”he concludes.
